The London Chamber of Commerce acts as a unified voice for business of all sizes and interests across London. We are members of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) and the Canadian chamber of Commerce (CCC). The Chamber Network includes more than 450 chambers representing more than 200,000 businesses.
The London Chamber of Commerce is well-respected by the OCC and CCC for its policy work and the majority of policy papers that come out of London are adopted by the provincial and federal chambers and then advocated for at Queen's Park and Parliament Hill respectively.
Policy Processes
Issues are identified by Chamber members and member firms, further research is done by Chamber staff, committees and other volunteers, approved by the Board, and then presented to the municipal, provincial, or federal government.
Often times, the Chamber is invited to offer opinion and feedback regarding all types of business issues. From legislation changes to the Workers Compensation Act to pre-budget meetings with provincial and federal Minister's of Finance, Chamber staff and volunteers are on the ground working for the rights of members.
Government Affairs Committee
The Government Affairs Committee is at the heart of the London Chamber’s reputation for being the leading advocate for business at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels. Over the course of the Chamber year, the committee develops policy papers, provides recommendations on the City budget and hosts a number of government speakers to present their views on a wide variety of issues.
The Government Affairs Committee is able to accomplish its work through the dedication and commitment of local Chamber members who share a strong interest in government affairs and who are passionate about making a positive change.
